What are Sample Sales?

Most Bridal boutiques will hold sample sales a few times a year to make room for new stock.  This is a good opportunity for brides to get that “dream dress for a bargain price” as they will be gowns that have been used in the boutique for trying on.

Know what you are looking for

If there’s a particular designer you love, book an appointment with the boutique ahead of the sample sale to try on the designs, then you’ll be sure of what to pick up on the day, it’s always a good idea to know what style, colour and cut of gown you’re looking for.  Do some research, make sure you know what the sale is offering in advance. Is it just dresses, or will there also be accessories, shoes and bridesmaids?

Don’t go if it the first time trying on a wedding dress.

Don’t go if it’s the first time you’re trying on a wedding dress. Shopping at sample sale can get a bit hectic, and you won’t have as much time with assistants to find the style that really suits you.

 First Come First Served.

If you can book an appointment book one this will avoid disappointment on the day, however some sample sale you’re not required to make an appointment so be early as the later in the day you go the fewer dresses there may be. If you see a dress you like don’t leave it to one side and keep looking at other dresses or someone else might snap it up.

Ask Questions

Do ask questions. Although the bridal consultant will be more busy than usual, don’t feel like you can’t ask questions – it’s an important purchase after all, and you want to be sure.

Examine your dress before purchase.

Most samples will have been tried on by a few brides before you, Make sure you check for any snags or loose beading. If there are faults, you’ll have to pay extra to get them fixed, so bear that in mind.

Storage

Be prepared to take your gown away, some bridal shops may allow you to store the gown until you are ready for fittings however it is normally asked that you take your gown on the day of purchase. Consider where you hide it and how safe it will be.

Be Financially Prepared

Phone the boutique in advance to check the price range especially for dresses that you have tried on before. Most bridal boutique require full payment for the gown on the day of purchase and ask that you take it away with you.
